COMMANDER:
Hello again, the Membership Drive Picnic was a success. We had 59 members renew their dues on this day and along with those who had renewed earlier by mail served 167 meals. My thanks to all the volunteers who made and served the food and those who helped clean up.
We also had a successful Golf Tournament. This is Pete Nelson’s baby. My thanks to him and his crew for a great job also thanks to those who helped prepare and serve the Dinner and clean
At the August Post Meeting "TAPS" were played for members Ken R. Burgland, Verne R. Tolzman, Warren H. Underwood and Robert P. Cellette. They will be missed.
Thursday September 2nd (1945) is VJ Day, the formal surrender of Japan on the Battleship Missouri.
Friday September 10 from 6-8pm it's the LEGION CHARCOAL GRILLED STEAK DINNER with baked potato, mushrooms, dinner roll and SALAD BAR $9.00.
Saturday September 11th starting at 10:30am it's the 1st annual Golden Valley Post 523 CAR SHOW. Proceeds go for POW/MIA and Wounded Veterans Programs. (See insert for more details) We will also raffle of a pair of Vikings tickets for the September 26th Detroit Lions game. This day is also PATRIOT DAY in memory of the people who lost their lives on 9-11-01 by terrorist attacks on American soil.
Sunday September 12th from 9-1pm it's the LEGION FAMILY STEAK AND EGG BREAKFAST with American fries, toast, juice and coffee $6.00.
September 18th the (1947) the USAF was established.
September 19th is POW/MIA Recognition Day. We must continue to search for them and bring them home.
Mark your calendar for Saturday November 6th; it's the Early Bird Membership dinner. Remember you must have the Early Bird Stamp on your 2011 dues card. So please get your Dues in now. We will be serving our GRILLED PRIME RIB DINNER. This is a RESERVATION ONLY DINNER. Paid up 2011 members and their spouses dine at no cost, if not married a member can still bring a guest but that person’s meal must be paid for. I don't know what that price will be yet, it's been $10.00 the last several years. I will try to keep that price but as you know things cost more nowadays. Auxiliary and SAL are welcome. There will be two seating times; 5:30 an 7pm please specify. The sign up sheet will be on the Commanders Board at the Post. Get those dues paid and join us.
In closing lets not forget our troops in harms way. They need our continued support. May the "FORCE" be with them

Hello Everyone,
Well summer has whizzed by us once again and fall is fast approaching!
The membership picnic was on August 7th. It was a hot day and George Jansen and his crew cooked up a fabulous dinner! We served 167 people, 52 of which were auxiliary members. Thank you to all the volunteers who made the picnic a successful one. Also thanks to Doris Rindahl and her family for collecting membership dues.
Auxiliary meetings will resume September 14th at 6:30 pm. Executive board will meet a half hour prior at 6:00pm. I hope everyone has had plenty of time to relax and enjoy their summer. I am looking forward to reconnecting, brainstorming and getting down to business with everyone - hope to see you there!

FIRST VICE COMMANDER:
Our Post membership renewals are up to 222 as of 8/13/10. Remember our goal is 410 so we are on our way to a third year of meeting our goal. We had a great turnout for the membership picnic and of course the food was wonderful. We thank all of you who came down and paid their renewal dues. It really saves the Post money in postage. We had 59 renewals submitted. Please welcome these new members to the Post:

We hope to meet all of you at our next Post meeting on the 2nd Tues in Sept at 6:30 PM. Please plan on attending.
If you have not sent you dues in yet please do so as soon as possible. Our Early Bird dinner for paid up members will be on Nov 6th. We will be serving "Prime Rib" roast free to paid up members.

Greetings! I hope you all had a great summer. Hard to believe it’s the beginning of another school year already.
Meetings resume in September on the first Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. We’ll have a lot to go over as we have not had meetings all summer. Please join us.
On Saturday September 11th there will be a Classic Car Show and a 9/11 service after Bingo.
Welcome new members; Thomas Leonard, Paul Schmidt, Mike Sanders, Donald Rudser, Craig Hartman, Brad Luther and Ryan Decker. At the Membership Picnic we had 21 members pay their dues and 6 new ones signed up. As I write this letter we have 39 members and are well on our way to another “ALL TIME HIGH.” Regular membership dues are $20.00 and duel membership and under 21 are $10.00. I have a few duel membership pins that are in the shape of Minnesota, great work to those who signed up new members.
On the third Friday September 17th the S.A.L. will serve our B.B.Q. Pulled Pork sandwich, slow cook to perfection and served on a Kaiser roll along with coleslaw, potato salad and potato chips. $5.50, Served from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Hope to see you there!
