Hello again, the Early Bird Dinner was a success and the Sea Cadets who served us did a great job. We had a good turn out for our Veterans Day ceremony.

December 7th (1941) is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

Friday December 10th from 6-8pm its the LEGION CHARCOAL GRILLED STEAK DINNER  with baked potato, mushrooms, dinner roll and SALAD BAR $9.00.

Sunday December 12th from 9-1pm its the LEGION FAMILY STEAK & EGG BREAKFAST with American fries, toast juice and coffee $6.00.

If you haven’t paid your 2011 dues, please do.

On Tuesday December 14th after the Legion and Aux meetings we'll have a Pot-luck, so come to your Post meeting and bring something to eat if you like.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

In closing lets not forget our troops in harms way. They need our continued support. May the "FORCE" be with them.

Thank you for your support.

Commander,

AUXILIARY:

Hello Everyone!
This holiday season is already proving to be a busy one!  The December calendar is filling up fast with exciting and fun events for all ages.
First is the annual Bake Sale, held on Dec. 11th and 12th.  Let’s fill our tables with wonderful treats!  If you plan on donating some goodies, please drop them off by 9 AM on Saturday.  This year we will also have a variety of candles and pocket calendars for sale as well!  These make great stocking stuffers and Christmas gifts, so come on down and check it out!
Our next meeting is on Dec. 14th.  Please join us; there are a variety of events coming up and a lot of planning to do for spring activities.  I would love to hear your ideas, together we can be successful.  Following the meeting is a pot-luck; the sign-up sheet is on the Legion board for anyone who is interested in bringing a dish to share.
The Pancake Breakfast is on Sunday Dec. 19th, 9 AM to noon.  Your choice of pancakes or French toast includes eggs, sausage, juice and coffee.  Cost is $6.00.  This will also be our Christmas Party; there will be pictures with Santa, face painting, gifts for the kids and more!  So bring the kids and come celebrate the Christmas season with us.

Last but not least, I was honored to be a part of the delivery of 3 SUV’S full of food to the Veteran’s home.  Recently, Mike Hrdlicka had enlightened us on the continuing problem of the Veteran’s food supply.  So while we have been trying to create awareness of this on-going need, a student from Breck (Renata), took it upon herself to organize a food drive.  Her class of 108 students collected over 1000 items in 2 weeks!  She is an amazing young lady and we are all very grateful for her dedication to this worthy cause.  It was a humbling experience, one that I will never forget.  So please, bring in a non-perishable food item and let’s keep this drive going!
As always, please check the Auxiliary board for up-coming events and volunteer opportunities.
This is a special time of year; enjoy the sights and sounds of the holidays. Be safe in your travels and please remember our troops and their families. God Bless.

Peace
Auxiliary President,
Jackie Miller

S.A.L.:

I’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous and Happy New Year!  The Early Bird Dinner was a huge success!  Thanks to all the volunteers who made the dinner possible and helped it run extremely smooth.  Thank you US Naval Sea Cadets for serving the food.  What a pleasure it was working with you!

On Saturday November 13th some of our Legion Family members went to The Golden Valley Rehabilitation & Care Center and put on a Veterans Day Ceremony for about 35 residents.  We passed out American Flag pins and even sang some songs.  A good time was had by all.  On November 11th a ceremony was put on at our Post and, in my opinion, it was one of the nicest I have attended.  A BIG THANKS to all that participated!

Once again Turkey Bingo was a success and a lot of fun.  I’d like to thank all those that helped out and all those who played bingo.  We plan on doing it again next year.

We now have 86 members, Only 7 more renews and we will reach an “ALL TIME HIGH.”  We are #1 in the 10th District.  Help us reach our goal by paying your dues or perhaps sign up a new member such as a son or a grandson.  Regular membership dues are $20.00 and dual membership and under 21 is $10.00.  I have a few dual membership pins that are in the shape of Minnesota.

Welcome new members Tory Auger, Jason Boudreau, Brian Doyle, Christopher Miller, Josh Thomn, and Ryan Wencl.  Welcome aboard!!

Friday December 17th we will not be serving a dinner, it is time to give our volunteers a night off, but we will be serving snacks, come down and get a free snack, served from 5:30 until 7:30.  Hope to see you there!

For God and Country
S.A.L. Commander
David (Chico) Jenkins

P.S. Mark your calendar Mystery Bus Trip
January 30th.

FIRST VICE COMMANDER:

Our membership stands at 340. Our goal for the year is 414 so we have 74 needed. We have met our goal for the past two years and we really need to do it again. The Legion Dept of MN has offered to give the Post a check for $75 if we meet it by Dec 4th (Pearl Harbor day) and they will give us another $150 if we reach 105% or 435 members by Dec 4th. We had 421 last year so we could do it if all of you would renew right away or bring a new member in to join our Post. If you have lost your renewal notice just send a check for $35 to the Post, 200 North Lilac Dr., Golden Valley, MN 55422 to my attention: Dave Ziegler 1st Vice.

We could really use the extra money to help with Christmas expense and giving to the needy.

Please remember to give me us any changes to your address.

I wish you all a very Blessed Christmas.

God Bless Our Troops and their Families.
1st Vice Commander,
Dave Ziegler
